2012-Harvest Fair and Community Garden Tour

Do you want to win a prize for your best squash or salsa recipe?  Win the biggest tomato or best melon prize?  Calling all gardeners to enter our food contests this weekend at the Harvest Fair and Community Garden Tour this weekend. We will have eight community gardens on tour from 10am-2pm, two free classes and food contests on Saturday. Here are the details.  Hope to see you there.

Saturday, September 15 from 10-2pm
Church of the Servant & Milagro Community Garden
Rodeo Road and Legacy

Come see 8 community gardens, play children’s games, win a contest for your vegetables, learn about planting garlic and tying chile ristras.

Enjoy the harvest season!

Schedule (all events at Milagro Community Garden)

6pm-8pm            Friday contest entries

8:30am-9:30       Saturday contest entries

10am                       Garlic Planting Class, Home Grown New Mexico how to plant and enjoy garlic

– See Contests and Play Children’s Games

-Start the Community Garden Tour on your own as you choose your own adventure

11am            Go on a Tour of four community gardens with carpool or bike

1:30pm            Chile Ristra Class from Home Grown New Mexico. Learn to tie the ristras.

2:30pm            Contest Winner Announcements

7. Earth Care has a Youth & Community Garden on Country Club and Jaguar. Plaza Contenta has planned a community garden in the future.  You can visit their park on this tour.
