Amy Hetager
Amy Hetager as many of you know was one of the founders of Home Grown New Mexico and passed away 2 years ago of brain cancer at the tender age of 40. She was the heart and soul of our organization and was a great inspiration to all who knew her. Home Grown New Mexico would not be the organization it now is without all her hard work and vision. She was also a Santa Fe Master Gardener and helped bring both organizations together for the Kitchen Garden & Coop tour where Master Gardeners help with our tour.
The Parks Division worked closely with Amy Hetager on the community gardens while she was alive. Since her passing, they have worked on changing the name of one of the community gardens in honor of her. As with any bureaucratic venture, it has been a long, arduous journey and we are thrilled that Jessie Esparza of the Parks Division has carried the torch to make this happen. They will officially re-name the Sunnyslope Meadows Community Garden on the north side of town to The Amy Hetager Garden on October 24th and there will be a celebration potluck afterwards for this great honor. Home Grown New Mexico rescheduled our fall potluck to time it with the renaming event. The community potluck is sponsored by the Parks Division and Home Grown New Mexico. The Parks Division decided on a weekday to accommodate family members of Amy who may join us. Even if it’s on your lunchbreak, come enjoy the food, camaraderie and stories of our dear friend.

POTLUCK:
The potluck location has been changed to Frenchy’s BARN due to the chairs/tables live there and it can be inside if the weather is cold.

What to bring: Bring a food dish to share with others in celebration of Amy.
