Earth Day at the railyard!#homegrown #earthday#zerowaste#noplasticMaking marmalade from odd and bitter tangerines from a tree in CA that survived wildfire and possibly reverted to its original root stock. #wastenotwantnot #homemade #wildfire #resilienceWait! That’s not a chicken in my coop! Persistent bobcat snagged 5 birds then returned a few days later after fences had been ( inadequately) reinforced and was unable to get out. Thank you @nmdgfg (NM game and fish) for great job darting, tagging and relocating!#backyardchickens #wildlife#homegrown #nomoreeggsTortillas 101 using an odd hybrid backyard corn which is part Hopi blue and part sweet corn (did not want to replant that!). Nixtamalized with calcium hydroxide then ground in a food processor, hand pressed and cooked in hot cast iron pan. The yellow ones are made from Bob’s Red Mill masa harina flour. Both were yummy!#bluecorn #nixtamal #homegrown #homegarden #heirloomgrains #heritagegrains#grainchain100% whole grain Red Fife wheat sourdough inspired by baking seminars at Grain School #heirloomwheat #fermentation #fermentedfoods #sourdough #heritagegrainsExploring heirloom corns from North America at Grain School at UCCS @rockymountainseeds.
